Filipiniana Craftsmans: Alimango
“Crabs or “Alimango” in the vernacular, is a very sumptuous dish which almost every Filipino loves.”
This bag was inspired by the pure festiveness and hospitality of the Filipino culture. This innate desire to entertain and accommodate guest is usually shown thru the abundance of food on the table. One of the special dishes like the lechon is the Alimango. Whether it be steamed, sautéed or ginataan this would be my heaven on a plate.
Materials are made out of cowhide leather, thick canvas one of the few existing weaving factories in the Philippines and hand woven fabrics from the Ilocos region. We carefully chose several weaves like the Sinukitan, Binakol and Kundiman. Our veteran embroiderers from Bulacan put all the pieces of design together using applique technique with a hand- guided embroidery machine.
